Sound Field Layout Plan

To address the venue's pain points—namely the dispersed sound field and long reverberation times of the Spring Cocoon Stadium—the audio team executed meticulous acoustic calibration. The main PA line array loudspeakers were flown at a 25-degree downward angle to precisely cover the upper stands while directing the sound to minimize reflections and wall noise. The venue was equipped with 12 groups of GS218 dual 18-inch subwoofers. Through a customized layout, they achieved clean, punchy low-end reproduction, completely eliminating bass accumulation and muddiness to perfectly accommodate the rich low-frequency layers of David Tao's songs.

The core of the main PA system featured the RL15 and RL2 line array systems, capable of hanging up to 24 enclosures per single array to meet the wide-span sound reinforcement demands of large stadiums. The RL15 is equipped with coaxial mid-to-high frequency units and waveguide interference-suppression technology, offering an adjustable coverage angle of 70° to 110°. This resolved the uneven sound field issues common in traditional audio systems, guaranteeing clear and natural vocals even at long distances.

The RL2 supports multiple directivity adjustments, featuring a smooth long-distance frequency response and ample dynamic headroom to achieve uniform, dead-zone-free coverage across the entire venue.

For the low-frequency section, a solid sound field was built upon the GS218 subwoofers. Equipped with custom Italian B&C long-excursion drivers, they delivered powerful yet controllable low-frequency texture, paired with RX12 loudspeakers to ensure a consistent listening experience venue-wide. Stage monitoring utilized M1 stage monitors, which high-definitionally reproduced vocal and instrumental details, providing accurate listening references for the on-stage performance.

The production's power system was driven by the R1 and R2 series Class-TD power amplifiers, which combine the high efficiency of Class-D with the pristine audio quality of Class-AB. The accompanying RA1 amplifier racks enabled integrated equipment management and highly efficient heat dissipation. Paired with intelligent PFC (Power Factor Correction) power supplies, the system seamlessly adapted to venue voltage fluctuations, guaranteeing stable, zero-fault operation throughout the multi-night, high-intensity concert run.

The sound field design, equipment layout, and parameter tuning for the entire concert were all completed via the TURANDOT acoustic system platform. Supporting cross-platform operation, this platform can independently perform sound field modeling, simulation optimization, and solution exports, mitigating venue acoustic issues in advance and maximizing the live performance capabilities of the entire sound system.

This "Black Tangerine" tour represents an upgraded version of the classic "Soul Power" tour, combining brand-new musical arrangements with an immersive stage design. Reyn Audio’s complete professional audio system delivered a consistently stable, high-fidelity sound field, flawlessly restoring the essence of classic tracks and crafting an immersive live music experience for the audience.
